A Theory of Change is more than a diagram. It makes the connections between the problem, your activities, intermediate outcomes and longer-term change explicit and tests the assumptions behind them.
When this helps
Your team needs a shared account of how your work makes a difference.
You are developing a programme or reviewing your organisation’s approach.
Funders or partners need to understand the reasoning behind your model.
How I work with you
We examine context and evidence, involve agreed stakeholders and work through the pathway to change together. Assumptions, external influences and dependencies are made visible, rather than presenting an overly simple chain of cause and effect.
Options & typical fees
Commission the support you need. We agree the scope, deliverables and fee before work begins.
Theory of Change development
£2,000–£3,200
A participatory process with an editable diagram and supporting narrative.
Problem, context, target groups and intended long-term change
Intermediate outcomes, activities and mechanisms of change
Evidence, assumptions, external influences and dependencies
A facilitated workshop, editable diagram, narrative and review
Timescale & next steps
Approximately five to eight consultancy days, spread across evidence review, participation, a workshop and refinement.
Tell me what you need, your timetable and any budget you are working within. I’ll confirm availability and propose a clear scope and fee.
A Theory of Change expresses and tests your reasoning; it is not proof of causation. An outcomes and monitoring framework can be added to translate the model into evidence collection.
“From the initial call with Sophie, I felt that she really cared about our cause, and made the process seamless. There were different options for us to choose in terms of levels of support (no pressure and our budget was taken into consideration).”
Sarah Land Co-Founder, Peeps
